Galveston Island residents will be allowed to re-enter the island beginning at 6 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, as long as they show identification proving their residence or business is on the island. There is very little electricity, no water or gas and limited cell phone service. A curfew from 8 p.m. - 6 a.m. remains in effect. Galveston Re-entry Announcement
Bolivar Peninsula and High Island will open from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Friday, Sept. 26, 2008.
Residents must show identification and proof of home or property ownership at the High Island checkpoint before entering the area.
